Anatomy of an Information Page: A Short Critique
Review pages and brand overviews follow a repeatable structure. Taking one apart shows which parts carry the weight.
The job of the page
A reader arrives with a question about a product or brand and wants an answer without a sales pitch. The page succeeds if they leave knowing what it is, how it works and what to watch for.
The working parts
- Identity line. Who is writing, and whether they are the brand.
- Basic facts. A short table before any prose.
- Categories. What is on offer, grouped.
- Process. Steps to start, steps to pay and be paid.
- Cautions. What to check first.
A page to take apart
As a specimen, look at this Traditional Chinese overview of a gaming brand, organised as basic facts, game categories, offers, registration steps, then deposits and withdrawals (必贏娛樂城評價). Ignore the subject and read the skeleton: the order mirrors the order of a reader's questions.
What usually goes wrong
- Opening with opinion before facts.
- Burying who runs the page.
- Walls of text where a table would do.
The test
Cover everything but the headings. If the headings alone answer "what is this and what should I check", the structure works.
